The Department of Public Instruction expects schools to reopen in the fall and will provide guidance next week on best practices.

In a message to district administrators on June 12, the department said it “expects changes to school operations to address risk factors to control the spread of COVID-19, the educational needs of students who are not able to return to school due to health concerns, and changing conditions due to the pandemic.”

A bill the Legislature passed this spring requires the agency to release the guidance by June 30. Friday’s message said it will be posted June 22.

DPI¬†said “this guidance is to provide considerations for district and school leaders to plan and implement a safe, efficient, and equitable return to school.”
