FRI PM Update: Evers, Barnes release legislative package on police use of force

-- Gov. Tony Evers and Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes today released a legislative package that would ban the use of chokeholds and only allow deadly force as a last resort. They said the proposals would produce "transparency in policing."
But the guv passed on calling a special session to take up justice system reforms as the Legislative Black Caucus had urged in a June 9 letter to Evers. Assembly Dems then backed up that call in a separate letter this week.
