Madison, WI – Senator Duey Stroebel (R-Cedarburg) released the below statement following the release of new revenue estimates from the Legislative Fiscal Bureau:
This new revenue estimate is another outstanding result of the prudent fiscal policy of Republican Legislatures over the past decade. Our corporate tax collections were also boosted by the effects of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed by Republicans in Congress and signed by President Trump.
Wisconsin’s fiscal position is strong. These new revenues come on top of large investments in education, medical assistance and transportation made during the current biennial budget. In situations like these we should resist the temptation to spend our taxpayers’ hard earned money. We should instead focus on what brought us to this excellent position: tax cuts and reducing debt.
