MILWAUKEE -Voces de la Frontera Action is holding statewide canvassing and phone-banking efforts in Racine, Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin to mobilize the Latino Vote for the February 18th Wisconsin Primary Election.

“This election is important because it’s the start of a movement that will take Trump out of office,” said Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera Action. “We are engaging communities across Wisconsin who are targets of Trump’s white nationalism and they’re ready to vote for progressive change. People understand that local elections act as safeguards to protect their local communities. They want to see local elected officials who will stand up for immigrant and refugee families.”

Voces de la Frontera Action is building a network of 23,000 multi-racial, youth, rural and first-time voters, referred to as “Voceros” who are committed to turning out the vote. 23,000 was the margin of Trump’s victory in 2016.

Driving Trump out of office is the primary goal for many young people who are taking the lead to mobilize their communities. “I’m a little worried,” said Jaime, a student at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, who is a part of the Vocero network. “I hope that we get Trump out of office because I feel that last election no one really felt that he would be elected, and here he is now. I’m concerned.”
