MADISON, Wis. – UW Health’s lab performed its first COVID-19 test at University Hospital on March 19, 2020. Almost a year later, they have run nearly 200,000 COVID-19 tests. Today, UW Health is recognizing the efforts of the medical technologists, specimen receiving technicians, pathology faculty, development specialists, lab quality and many lab leaders who have often worked 80-100 hours per week to achieve this remarkable feat. The state’s transportation fund is expected to end the fiscal year June 30 with a deficit of about $172 million, according to DOT. Still, in a letter to the co-chairs of the Joint Finance Committee, Transportation Secretary Craig Thompson noted the state is also expecting an influx of federal funds. The governor’s Pardon Advisory Board heard from applicants virtually on Feb. 12, 2021. Applicants whom the Board recommended for pardon were given to Gov. Evers for final consideration.
