WisDems: Ron Johnson wants legislation that supports Wisconsin workers & holds China accountable “killed”

(MADISON, WI) — Today on the Jay Weber radio show, Ron Johnson made it abundantly clear that he stands with China over American workers, proudly declaring “I personally would like to see the bill [U.S. Innovation and Competition Act] killed”. In response, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Senate Campaign Advisor Philip Shulman released the following statement: “Instead of giving Wisconsinites the boost they need in manufacturing and technical training, Ron Johnson is choosing to let China off the hook for their unfair cybersecurity and economic practices. This is yet another reminder that Johnson is in the Senate to serve his own interests and

U.S. Rep. Grothman, colleagues: Bidenflation is a tax on hardworking Americans

WASHINGTON—Today, Republicans on the Oversight and Reform Committee led by Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) called on National Economic Council Director Brian Deese to provide answers about how the Biden Administration plans to fix its self-made inflation crisis. The Biden Administration’s economic policies have disproportionately impacted middle class Americans, especially those hit hardest by Democrat lockdowns. “The exponential rise in inflation since the Biden Administration took office shows the clear consequences of massive deficit spending and the fallout from installing an extreme left-wing agenda,” wrote the Republicans. “The Biden Administration has pushed trillions of dollars of taxpayer money out the

WASHINGTON—Today, House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) and Committee Republicans sent a third letter to Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) calling for a hearing on the crisis at the southern border with Biden Administration officials to hold them accountable for policies fueling the border crisis. Recently there were over 22,000 unaccompanied children in U.S. custody and the costs to American taxpayers are skyrocketing. “When we first wrote to you on March 4, 2021 about the crisis on the southwest border, there were about 7,000 unaccompanied children in U.S. custody. When we last wrote to you on March 25, 2021,

A Better Wisconsin Together: Republicans still refusing to respect frontline and essential workers

MADISON, Wis. — Today, the Republican majority on the Joint Finance Committee is acting on the state budget for the Department of Workforce Development, the agency that oversees many employment related programs, from unemployment insurance to workers compensation. Here’s what’s not on the agenda: showing respect for Wisconsin workers. Republican legislators are refusing to take up Gov. Evers’ budget proposals, like expanding Family and Medical Leave, ensuring workers get paid the wages they’re due, and securing workers’ freedom to negotiate together. Frontline and essential workers have supported our communities over the last year, kept our communities and economy going through a

Association for Equity in Funding: Has some questions for elected officials

“It’s a political staredown.” That’s how one State Capitol insider described the recent education funding proposal from Wisconsin’s Republican-Controlled Joint Finance Committee (JFC). Now we learn that Governor Evers may veto the entire budget, an action that hasn’t happened since at least 1931. Since the Governor has yet to allocate $2B in federal stimulus funds, we are told that JFC isn’t willing to budget state funds that might duplicate those efforts. One big problem: this does nothing to address longstanding inequities that harm so many students across Wisconsin. Our kids are losing. This is our democracy. Can we keep it

WisGOP: Tony Evers tunes out Wisconsin business owners

[Madison, WI] – While Wisconsin business owners continue to tell Tony Evers that the additional federal unemployment benefit is hurting their ability to find workers, Evers continues to tune them out. Yesterday, Tony Evers told WISN 12 that the outcry from small business owners from across the state does not constitute enough “proof” or “data” to recognize that his refusal to help get Wisconsin working again is hindering our state’s economic recovery. While Evers claims that he lacks the “data” to help small businesses get back on their feet after he kept them shut down for months during the onset of the
