PHMDC: Public Health adopts new COVID-19 quarantine and isolation guidance

Contact: Morgan Finke communications@publichealthmdc.com Following updated COVID-19 recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Public Health Madison & Dane County is adopting new guidelines for the length of isolation and quarantine. According to the guidance, the time for isolation following a positive COVID-19 test is now five days, followed by five days of wearing a mask when around others. Individuals can stop isolating after five days as long as their symptoms are improving and they have been fever-free for 24 hours. Milwaukee VA: Milwaukee VA takes lead in assessment of concussions among wheelchair athletes

State seeing roughly 20K COVID-19 vaccine doses wasted each week

At least 393,810 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been wasted in Wisconsin since the vaccines became available in December 2020, according to state DHS numbers reviewed by WisBusiness.com. That’s about 4 percent of the more than 9.8 million total doses the state has received. The frozen road determination for other areas of the state will be made when conditions warrant. The frozen road law allows vehicles hauling abrasives or salt for highway winter maintenance and certain forest products to carry more weight.
