-- Adult corrections guards are on pace for 2.2 million hours of overtime in the current fiscal year, amounting to a 13.5 percent increase over 2019-20, according to the Legislative Fiscal Bureau.
The agency has long been plagued by high overtime costs among prison guards due to vacancies and other issues. As of last month, 730.7 of 4,673 correctional officer and sergeant positions were vacant.
