-- The Assembly Insurance Committee will take testimony today on legislation that would allow short-term health plans, which are exempt from many requirements of the Affordable Care Act, to last up to three years.
Currently, state law caps the plans at 18 months. The bill would match state law to federal regulations approved in 2018 by the Trump administration. Federal law allows states to have a shorter aggregate duration for the plans.
