TUE PM Update: Evers praises opioid settlement bill during Waukesha stop

-- Gov. Tony Evers in Waukesha today praised a bill to give the Joint Finance Committee authority to settle opioid lawsuits because he said it would bring needed money to local efforts to fight the opioid crisis.
Evers signed AB 374 last week. The law gives the GOP-controlled JFC final say over opioid lawsuit settlements, though Evers and Dem AG Josh Kaul said that provision was unconstitutional. The bill also requires 70 percent of settlement funds to go to local governments with the remainder going to the state.
