Rep. Emerson: Statement on GOP gun bills

MADISON – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly voted on multiple GOP gun bills (AB 498, AB 495, AB 518, AB 597). Rep. Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire) released the following statement in response: “These bills are not wanted or needed. The combined efforts of these bills allow for an 18 year old in high school to carry a firearm on school grounds. Our educators, students, and their families already fear school shootings and gun violence, we don’t need to increase the odds of that happening. This is just another baseless attempt by Republicans to solve our state’s gun violence epidemic with dangerous bills.”

This has unfortunately led to the practice of “ghosting” in which an  employer will contact a prospective employee, set up an interview, only to have that individual  not reply or not show up for their interview.  Under current law, there is no penalty for an individual receiving unemployment to not show up for a scheduled interview or respond to such a request.  To

WisDems: Ron Johnson’s self-serving agenda is “quite clear,” even if he’s trying to hide it

Madison, Wis. – Today, Ron Johnson was faced with the question of what his party is for and refused to specify. Unfortunately for Johnson, his actions speak louder than his words.  Here are the specifics on Johnson’s self-serving agenda: Raising health care costs on Wisconsinites. Johnson worked to gut protections for pre-existing conditions and voted against bipartisan legislation that would prevent surprise emergency medical bills. Enriching himself and his political donors. Johnson personally changed the 2017 tax law that benefitted himself and gave two of his largest political donors a $215 million tax handout. Johnson’s own net worth has roughly

Schroeder campaign: Jay Schroeder condemns Rep. Robin Vos decision to punish Rep. Tim Ramthun over Wisconsin decertification efforts

Neenah, WI-Today, Republican candidate for Secretary of State, Jay Schroeder issued a statement in the decision by Rep. Robin Vos to punish my friend and great American patriot, Tim Ramthun by taking away his sole staffer. Any duly elected Representative should be allowed to have the tools to serve his constituents and the common good for the state of Wisconsin. To take away his staff is an attempt to deny him that ability. This is unacceptable. How can one person serve as the judge jury and deprive the citizens of his district for service on their concerns for state government?
