WisDems: Rebecca Kleefisch’s tax plan lets the wealthy pay less

MADISON, Wis. – Rebecca Kleefisch’s tax “plan” for Wisconsin is simple: give tax breaks to the wealthy, while making working families pay more. Calling it a “plan” is a bit of a stretch, as Kleefisch hasn’t yet offered any specifics, but in a new report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, she recently appeared to stop just short of explicitly endorsing switching Wisconsin to a flat tax. Under a flat tax, the wealthy get a tax break at the expense of middle and lower income families, all while working families are facing rising costs. Stuffing the pockets of the wealthy and big corporations is

Republican Party of Dane County: Bonus proposal needs to answer serious questions

Recently, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi proposed handing out $1000 inflation bonuses to Dane County employees. While we remain grateful to all county employees for the services they help to provide daily, Parisi needs to answer some serious questions about his proposal. From May of 2020 through June of 2021 Dane County business owners were coerced into limiting the capacity of their businesses. This had a devastating effect on their earning ability and that of their many employees. In fact, the limitations forced upon Dane County for the better part of twelve months contributed heavily to rampant business closures and

U.S. Rep. Gallagher: Biden’s shipbuilding “plan” is fundamentally unserious

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement on the Biden administration’s attempt at a 30-year shipbuilding plan, which allows critical capabilities like VLS cells, undersea VLS cells, undersea torpedo capacity, and sortie generation to bottom out when the U.S. will need them most. “The Biden administration’s new shipbuilding plan is fundamentally unserious. In fact, it is not even a plan. Instead of a clear articulation of the Navy the nation needs, it presents three options–which means the service has no clear vision for where it wants to go nor how it will get there. Even worse, the
