WisDems: Tim Michels, an empty podium won’t hide his radical politics

MADISON, Wis. – It does not matter that Tim Michels chose an empty podium over attending the first Republican primary debate last night, because he has made it clear that he is as much of a radical as Rebecca Kleefisch, Kevin Nicholson, and Tim Ramthun. An overview of the extreme positions Michels has staked out includes: At his announcement event, Michels referenced recently vetoed bills, saying [3:35],“There’s a bunch of bills that were put in front of Tony Evers, and he vetoed them all. I’m asking the legislature to reintroduce those bills. And I will sign those on day one […]” Some of

Today, Governor Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul filed suit in Dane County Circuit Court to repeal Wisconsin statute 940.04, which protects the life of the preborn. Their court filing argues that “later-enacted laws impliedly repeal earlier-enacted laws.” Rep. Allen released the following statement in response: “Every Wisconsin law in regards to abortion is about protecting preborn life. This is true for both the older and newer laws. The only difference is that one was written before Roe v. Wade, and the others were written afterwards. To seek to abolish the protection of equal right to life for the preborn through

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Today, Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul announced a direct challenge to Wisconsin’s archaic 173-year old law that bans nearly all abortions, even in cases of rape or incest. “We will never stop fighting to ensure every Wisconsinite has the right to consult their family, their faith, and their doctor and make the reproductive healthcare decision that is right for them—a decision that should be made without interference from politicians or members of the Supreme Court who don’t know anything about their life circumstances, values, or responsibilities,” said Gov. Evers. “The Supreme Court overturned Roe, effectively stripping so many

Jarchow campaign: Blasts AG Kaul on lawsuit to overturn Wisconsin law

[Balsam Lake, Wis.] – Today, Attorney General candidate Adam Jarchow blasted Josh Kaul for his willingness to use his official office to play blatant politics with an established Wisconsin law – and in the process, skirt his sworn duties to defend the laws of Wisconsin. Jarchow made the following statement: “Josh Kaul has once again politicized his office by refusing to enforce Wisconsin law.  The Attorney General’s job is to uphold the law, not work to overturn it. This is simply another election year stunt to gin up the Democrats’ demoralized base. It won’t work. The rule of law will

Wisconsin Right to Life: Condemns AG Kaul lawsuit against Wisconsin’s 1849 Abortion Ban

This afternoon, with representatives from Planned Parenthood in attendance, Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul announced a lawsuit to challenge the enforceability of Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion ban, state statute 940.04. The challenge calls for clarification, and argues that the pro-life laws passed since 1849 supersede the 1849 ban and therefore make it unenforceable. The suit argues that because the only exception in the 1849 law is for the life of the mother, it is in direct contradiction to more recent laws like the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which established a ban on Wisconsin abortions past the 20th week of pregnancy

Sen. Agard: Applauds Gov. Evers, AG Kaul challenge to Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal abortion ban

MILWAUKEE – Today, Governor Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul announced a legal challenge to Wisconsin’s 1800s-era Criminal Abortion Ban. The lawsuit argues Wisconsin state statutes contain two sets of criminal laws that directly conflict with each other if both are applied to abortion and therefore Wisconsin’s 19th century criminal abortion ban has been superseded by more contemporaneous legislation and cannot be enforced. Senator Melissa Agard (D-Madison) released the following statement on the challenge: “Let me be clear, we will never stop until safe, legal abortion is restored in Wisconsin and we will not rest until pregnant people’s rights are

[Waukesha, Wis.] — Candidate for governor Rebecca Kleefisch released the following statement on Tuesday after Gov. Tony Evers and Attorney Gen. Josh Kaul announced their lawsuit to throw out Wisconsin’s abortion ban:   “It’s insulting to hear Tony Evers and Josh Kaul tell Wisconsin women that they cannot have babies and be successful. It’s the most anti-feminist lie liberals tell. They want women to think that we won’t be able to live full lives unless we end the lives of unplanned babies. But women have been giving children life and reaching their goals as long as motherhood has existed.
