Weekly Dem radio address: Rep. Pope says medical experts are sounding the alarm on the lack of obstetricians and gynecologists in Wisconsin

Hi, this is Representative Sondy Pope with this week’s Democratic Radio Address. Starting, or adding, to your family can be one of the most joyful times in a person’s life.  But for many women, finding maternity care is getting harder and harder.  27 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties do not have a single OB/GYN. The Mayo Clinic is ending labor and delivery services at its hospitals in Menomonie and Barron.  And there are no maternity care providers of any kind in Rusk or Pepin counties.  This means that some of our neighbors and friends are at higher risk for poor maternal—and infant—health outcomes.

Weekly GOP radio address: Sen. Bradley says Republican leaders work to ensure safety in our communities

Hi, this is State Senator Julian Bradley. As I talk with neighbors, community leaders, and my Republican colleagues in the legislature, we are all concerned about the release of violent criminals back into our communities. Whether it’s Governor Evers’ Parole Commission releasing murderers or soft-on-crime District Attorneys refusing to charge repeat offenders, Wisconsin deserves better. If Wisconsinites cannot safely go to school, work, and community events without fearing for their safety, then we’ve failed. That’s why Republicans are working with law enforcement across the state to ensure dangerous criminals remain behind bars. While second chances are crucial for many first-time

WisDems: Tim Michels is radical and wrong on education

MADISON, Wis. — Tim Michels’ radical education agenda will decimate Wisconsin’s public schools by slashing funding for education, raising Wisconsin property taxes, and using students and teachers as political pawns while stoking division in the classroom. Despite not having attended a school board meeting in Wisconsin in the past year and admitting that he’s “not an expert at education,” Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels has plenty to say about education in our state. Michels’ plan for education would slash funding for neighborhood public schools, directing them toward private schools instead – a plan that could raise property taxes by over $500 million. Michels called continuing to

Democratic Governors Association: In new audio, Tim Michels calls 12-year-old rape victim’s pregnancy “created by God”

While Tim Michels has desperately scrambled to hide his extreme stances on abortion, Michels has long opposed abortion access, including in cases of rape or incest. In a recently rediscovered 2004 interview, Michels said he would tell a 12-year-old rape victim that her pregnancy was “created by God.” During his gubernatorial campaign, Michels has said his views on abortion are an “exact mirror” of Wisconsin’s 1849 law which would force even child victims of rape and incest to carry pregnancies to term. While Michels has attempted to change his views on these issues for political purposes, his long history of extreme stances makes his
