-- A Waukesha County judge late this afternoon ruled absentee drop boxes aren't allowed under state law and issued an order directing the Elections Commission to let clerks know within two weeks.
Judge Michael Bohren's ruling means drop boxes largely won't be allowed for the Feb. 15 spring primary. Ruling from the bench today, he found state law only allows municipalities to offer an alternative site to collect absentee ballots that's manned by staff from the clerk's office.
