-- U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin says passage of legislation to provide new legal protections for same-sex and interracial couples shows the U.S. government and American people "see them and respect them."

The Senate yesterday approved the bill 61-36 on final passage, clearing the way to send it back to the House, which had passed an earlier version. If the House signs off on the amended bill, it would go to President Biden for his signature.
