WIPPS: Releases Lincoln and Marathon County Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Welcomeness Survey Report

The Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS) has released a report from a 2022 survey designed to gauge attitudes and perceptions toward diversity, inclusion, and community welcomeness in Lincoln and Marathon Counties. The “Lincoln and Marathon County Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Welcomeness Study” was open from May to June, 2022, and received over 1,500 responses. The survey was mailed to randomly selected households in the area and was also available online. A report of the findings can be found at wipps.org. Institute for Reforming Government: New poll shows Wisconsinites support elimination of income tax

MADISON, Wis. – A survey of registered Wisconsin voters conducted in December 2022 shows a plurality of voters – across partisan lines – support eliminating the income tax AND that nearly 6 in 10 think that state taxes are too high. The State Policy Network (SPN)’s State Voices project in partnership with Morning Consult, conducted this survey. Dept. of Natural Resources: New PFAS fish consumption advisory issued for Lake Wausau and Stevens Point flowage

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Department of Health Services (DHS) today announced a new PFAS-based consumption advisory for several fish species in Lake Wausau in Marathon County and the Stevens Point Flowage in Portage County (both of which are segments of the Wisconsin River) based on fish sampling. Elevated levels of PFOS (perfluorooctane sulfonate), a type of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), were found in several fish species sampled from both Lake Wausau and the Stevens Point Flowage.
