Gallaher campaign: Lawsuit filed against Mount Pleasant Village President David Degroot by opponent in April 4th election

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI APRIL 3, 2023 — A lawsuit was filed today in Racine County against Mount Pleasant Village President David DeGroot, and his campaign manager, Sam Wahlen, by the attorney representing DeGroot’s opponent in the April 4th election, Kelly Gallaher. The lawsuit alleges that both DeGroot and Wahlen made false and defamatory statements about Gallaher in a press release, on social media and in multiple campaign mailings sent to residents in the community, which stated that she owed $70,000 in back taxes as a business partner in an LLC. Dept. of Justice: Oshkosh man sentenced to 3 years incarceration, seizure of home for elder financial abuse and tax fraud convictions

OSHKOSH, Wis. – Attorney General Josh Kaul today announced that Terry Lynn Culver, 64, of Oshkosh, was sentenced to serve three years in the Wisconsin Prison System followed by six years of supervised release. Following a four-day jury trial, Culver was convicted of eight felonies for crimes related to elder financial abuse and tax fraud. The court also granted the State’s petition to seize Culver’s home to pay the restitution owed to the victim’s estate.
