Department of Children and Families Secretary Emilie Amundson will leave her position effective Sept. 11, Gov. Tony Evers announced.
Deputy Secretary Jeff Pertl will replace Amundson, according to Evers’ release.
Amundson, who previously served as chief of staff to Evers in his former role as state superintendent of public instruction, said in a statement she has been fortunate to have worked with Evers for nearly 15 years.
“So I already knew that we shared the same core value that what is best for our kids is what is best for our state,” Amundson said. “In service to that vision, I’ve worked to make Wisconsin better for kids and their families; from early childhood programming to prevention services and job programs for working families, this administration advanced policy that has made a real difference for families like mine.”
Evers praised Amundson for her service to the state.
“I could not be more grateful to Emilie for her years of tremendous service, leadership, and friendship, and Kathy and I wish her and her family the very best,” the guv said.
With Amundson’s departure and the departure of Department of Transportation Secretary Craig Thompson, who is also set to leave Sept. 11, there will be no remaining original members of Evers’ cabinet from when he first took office in January 2019.
