Senate committee OK’s bill overhauling state’s forfeiture laws

A Senate committee today approved a bill 3-2 overhauling the state’s forfeiture laws that would limit law enforcement’s ability to keep people’s property when they haven’t been convicted of a crime.
Supporters said it would help those who are innocent and whose cash or property is seized, while opponents said the current process could see some improvements but the bill went too far.
