Democrats should reward candidates who campaign cheerfully, work hard and answer tough questions that have a right to be asked. And if Democratic voters reward that in the August primaries, they’re much more likely to be rewarded with the big prizes come November.

We need police officers capable of doing their jobs in a fair and unbiased way that honors their shield and respects the community that they serve. We need elected and appointed officials, at every level of government, to use the full weight of their positions to create transparent, impartial, and accountable policing.

I am at a complete loss of words to describe how it is that we, my law school and my fellow Marquette lawyers, go about our busy daily lives virtually unconscious of living in “one of the most segregated cities in America.”
