Katrina Shankland: Let’s Reach Higher for Higher Education

With the recent news that UW-Oshkosh has laid off 20% of its employees, UW-Platteville Richland is closing, UW-Milwaukee at Washington County and UW-Oshkosh Fond du Lac’s campuses are stopping in-person instruction by June 2024, and the remaining ten branch campuses will “discuss future options,” the jarring reality is that our higher education is at significant risk due to the neglect of the Republican-led Legislature.

Support for women’s rights in general and women’s sports in particular has been almost sacred to the left for five decades. But, in a flash, as the orders from above came in, the left unanimously has decided that men and boys can compete against women and girls in sports and can steal all of their records, exile them to the benches and become superstars in sports in which they were mediocre when competing against fellow males.
