Wisconsin’s GOP House delegation seeks to submit new congressional map to state Supreme Court

Wisconsin’s GOP members of Congress have asked state justices to give them the chance to propose a new map after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected their challenge. Wednesday’s filing came hours after the U.S. Supreme Court, without comment, denied House Republicans’ request to overturn Gov. Tony Evers’ map, which the state justices approved earlier this month. In that 4-3 ruling, the state Supreme Court picked Evers’ map for Wisconsin’s congressional boundaries, finding it most closely followed the core retention principle the justices used to evaluate the proposals that had been submitted. Dem AG Josh Kaul says he’s baffled to see the U.S. Supreme Court toss out Evers’ legislative maps. “I think it’s pretty shocking to see this ruling from the U.S.  Supreme Court, and I think it’s frankly consistent with the increasing activism we’ve seen from the conservative super majority on the U.S. Supreme Court,” he said during a virtual WisPolitics.com luncheon. He noted the high court previously in response to other map challenges said it was too late in the process to require courts or Legislatures to redraw them, “but apparently they’ve reached a different conclusion here in Wisconsin.” The

He adds former President Obama’s chief economist says inflation is costing families $4,000 a year. “Why?
