As I sit in the Keys at the southernmost point on our journey having sailed almost 2,800 miles from our beautiful home port of Port Washington, I’ve learned a few things about our country. Today’s Republican Party, with the exception of Mitch McConnell — who, god help us, is now the GOP’s voice of reason — appears to have given up on the idea of representing mainstream voters.

It’s time for transformational reform in our K-12 system, time to fight for families, and time to give every child a chance to succeed.
