Not only is a shortage of mental health professionals a barrier for treatment for communities of color, the lack of Black or Hispanic therapists has major implications for them to find a practitioner they feel comfortable enough to share race-related trauma.
Whether through legislation or through the budget bill, the legislature should allow out-of-state mental health professionals to help people in Wisconsin now and for the foreseeable future.

The GOP-controlled Senate today took the final procedural step to keep in place the Legislature’s suspension of three administrative rules, including one seeking to bar conversion therapy for gay patients. The move keeps the rules from taking effect until after the regular session ends in April 2024.
