Cooke’s campaign fired back that Shankland needs to answer for her record on health care as attacks between the candidates escalated two weeks out from the Aug. 13 primary, which will decide who faces off against incumbent U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Prairie du Chien, in November.
Baldwin, D-Madison, reported nearly $2.6 million in receipts between July 1-24, $3.5 million in expenses and $6.3 million in the bank to close the pre-primary period. Hovde reported $374,220 raised, $2.7 million spent and $3.1 million in the bank.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign plans to turn in the maximum of 4,000 signatures by Tuesday’s deadline to get on the Wisconsin ballot.
