Party activists at the state GOP convention today elected Waukesha County GOP Chair Terry Dittrich and Pam Travis, one of the Republicans who submitted a false slate of electors for Trump in 2020, to fill two of Wisconsin’s three slots on the Republican National Committee. 

Madison businessman Eric Hovde today accused Dem U.S. Sen Tammy Baldwin of engaging in the politics of personal destruction since he got into the race to distract from what he said was a record of “utter failure.”

U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla. and a frequent surrogate for Donald Trump, told party activists they have a simple job in 2024—”to defeat the crazy, radical, Marxist left that has destroyed the Democrat Party.” 

Wisconsin GOP activists today approved resolutions calling for the impeachment of the state’s top elections official, declaring abortion “murder of an unborn child” and calling for the elimination of the state’s income tax.

Wisconsin’s GOP House members at today’s state GOP convention blasted Biden administration policies while urging Republicans to turn out in November, arguing Americans were much better off under Donald Trump. 

Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu, R-Oostburg, and Joint Finance Committee Co-chair Mark Born, R-Beaver Dam, also warned GOP activists they need to protect Republican majorities in the Assembly and Senate to prevent the state from looking like Minnesota, Michigan or even California.

Conservative state Supreme Court candidate Brad Schimel, at the GOP state convention this weekend to court the party’s grassroots, told WisPolitics he’s already raised more than $500,000 for his 2025 bid.

Johnson made a pitch to Republicans at the state convention that regardless of their personal feelings on abortion, the party must embrace allowing states to set reasonable limits on how late into a pregnancy an abortion may be performed because that’s where most voters are.

“I have spoken nationally, in the state, and local levels about the need for Republicans to be realistic. And if the state law that affects this election says we’ll have drop boxes or we end up with ballot harvesting, we’re going to do what it takes to win,” Schimming said. 

Wikler made the comments during a state Dem Party press call with Assembly Minority Leader Greta Neubauer, D-Racine, Senate Minority Leader Dianne Hesselbein, D-Middleton, and Milwaukee election commissioner and Latina community leader Patricia Ruiz-Cantu. 

Republican Party of Wisconsin Chair Brian Schimming has a simple message for the state convention this weekend: unity equals victory.
