Hovde seems to be making inroads on gaining on Baldwin. The most recent polling has Hovde up by 1 percentage point. It wasn’t that long ago that Baldwin had a 7-point lead. Basically the race is too close to call and Hovde can win this race.

Yes, we have an immigration problem that needs fixing, but we have many more problems that need to be addressed. And the demonization of immigrants is not going to solve them any more than it did back in 1924.

I saw ads from an organization inappropriately named “Follow The Law” recently calling on clerks to “only certify an accurate election” and “NO RUBBER STAMPS!” … In Wisconsin, certification of the election is a statutory requirement, meaning that it is not something a county clerk can choose not to do.
Going behind the curtain to explain how elections are administered in Wisconsin, from registration to casting, counting and certifying votes, was the topic of a Wisconsin Technology Council luncheon Oct. 22 in Madison.
My thought as a contentious presidential election comes to a close is the thousands of poll workers across the country deserve the same level of respect: “Thank you for your service, poll workers.”
When newspapers like The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times refuse to make endorsements in contests for the presidency — and when other newspapers drop the practice of making endorsements altogether — they reject the basic premise of freedom of the press in the United States.

I suppose I get why Donald Trump had a big rally at Madison Square Garden the other night and why his campaign filled the Garden with crude, hate-filled speakers. His closing strategy is to turn out disaffected young men who otherwise wouldn’t vote. But did it cost him more than he’ll get?
