From Wisconsin to Minnesota, North Dakota to Ohio, deer season teaches rural kids self-worth that’s needed now more than ever.
Since the peak in 2000, there has been a steady decline in the number of deer hunters and the deer population has been rapidly expanding.
Wisconsin is blessed with a vibrant land trust movement, and Washington County is particularly blessed as the home to two of the best land trusts of the more than 40 in the state.
If residents ever want to see lower rents and lower housing costs, they need to gang up on the local politicians and make it clear that more housing is needed.
Black Friday means nothing to me, but I do pause when Small Business Saturday comes the next day. It is a good reminder to stay close to home, in this case with our dollars, for the old truth remains: A buck spent locally stays there to circulate several more times.
