Last weekend, Donald Trump spent his limited free time on the trail courting the gun lobby – delivering the keynote speech at the NRA’s annual meeting in Dallas, Texas. This is no surprise.

There has been much discussion recently from some politicians about banning Delta-8 and other hemp products. The concerns arise from rising use of teens getting sick from using too much hemp and mixing it with other substances, for the purpose of intoxication.

HAL was the artificially intelligent (and authentically diabolical) computer in 1968’s landmark film “2001: A Space Odyssey.” Despite his/its programmed politeness, HAL, uh … let’s just say HAL had some flaws.

Apparently it isn’t enough for Donald Trump’s cultists to declare that an American election was crooked and stolen from the man they worship as an idol. Now the American judicial system and a trial by a jury is rigged, too.

Immediately after his historically unprecedented conviction on 34 charges of falsifying business records, Donald J. Trump tried Thursday to suggest that the jury’s decision was an affront to democracy.

“How bad are things that MPS? Only 40% of MPS sophomores are proficient at reading and less than 30% are proficient at math. And the graduation rate and MPS is abysmal. Obviously what MPS has been doing is not working. So why has DPI ignored the problems of MPS? Why can’t the Superintendent and her deputies take a leadership role?”

Trump was convicted on all 34 counts: “In Scheme To Illegally Influence 2016 Election” (Washington Post – WP). He had falsified business records to conceal a “hush money” payment to buy a porn actress’s silence. The underlying crime was a New York election law that makes it a crime to “conspire to promote or prevent the election of any person to a public office by unlawful means” (WP).

While I’ve never been a big fan of fireworks, I know how important they are to this city.

All Trump rallies have a similar feel to them—always fun and full of positive energy and love for America. But something more significant occurred at the latest Trump rally in the Bronx, as Trump took a break from the blatantly politicized trial against him in New York to do a rally in one of the bluest areas of the country.

The world looks to the United States as a leader, with vital alliances, economic prowess, and a healthy dose of reason and sound judgment among those who are in our government or aspire for leadership.

June 5 is the anniversary of our recall election victory. It was the first time a governor survived such an effort. Each of the previous attempts resulted in the incumbent being removed from office.

Officials at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction did not mince words in its letter warning Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Keith Posley that millions of dollars in school funds are in jeopardy because of his district’s failure to provide statutorily required financial data.

The Libertarian Party (LP) held their national convention in Washington, D.C. this past weekend. The event featured several big-name political figures, too—Vivek Ramaswamy, Robert Kennedy Jr., Donald Trump and Ron Paul all made appearances. Yet, despite their presence, none garnered nearly as much attention, or caused more commotion, than the LP’s presidential nominee—Chase Oliver.

Sociologist Brad Wilcox is modeling what he thinks more people with elevated platforms in American culture should do: He’s telling young people to marry because it will make them happier.

In November 2021 Brian Rothgery resigned his job as communications manager for the county board. He was not replaced until May 2022, when the job was handed to former Milwaukee County Supervisor Eddie Cullen, who had just stepped down from the position that spring. No one else was considered or interviewed for the job of communications manager.
