In new Speaker Mike Johnson the Democrats may be dealing with a much stronger and smarter opponent than they had in Kevin McCarthy. Johnson’s opening moves seem masterful.

Milwaukee is losing people due to declining birthrates and people leaving. Without the influx of immigrants, the metro’s population would have shrunk considerably.

It’s time to think boldly about what Milwaukee should look like decades to come. The removal of 794 will be a resounding success for downtown.

Kennedy crisscrossed Wisconsin from January through April 1960, burning shoe leather and tire tread to win over Wisconsinites.

It was always an empty threat by Brewers, yet neither the Legislature nor Gov. Evers made any attempt to protect the taxpayers.

Yet more reason for more legislative control over spending of federal bucks.

While Wisconsin leaders continue working to restrict and stigmatize abortion, we want our story to serve as a reminder that these laws have life-threatening, heartbreaking implications for women and families across our state.

Abortion is an essential and life-saving aspect of women’s health care.

Mike Johnson is the very embodiment of right-wing extremism. Unfortunately, he accurately mirrors what the present day Republican Party stands for.

The tricks that super wealthy individuals and corporations employ at tax time go unchallenged because the Internal Revenue Service hasn’t been given the resources to keep up with them.

The tone set by those in higher offices does matter, because whether they know it or desire it, they do set examples for others in our society to follow.

Does it help to be stupid?

When our servicemembers return home and hang up their boots for a final time, we have a sacred commitment to do right by those who served us. But, sadly for some veterans, we have come up short on our end of the bargain.

For the over 150 communities with designated shortages of primary care physicians, help may soon be on the way from the Wisconsin State Legislature.

Show us the prices so we can shop and compare. Let competition hold hospitals in check and stop letting them charge whatever they want and send us to collections when we cry foul.

All across Wisconsin, students are well into the swing of things. So too, are Wisconsin legislators who also had several months off this summer. Now that they are back to work in Madison, I’d like to suggest a few assignments for them
