The Gableman campaign in 2008 unleashed a vicious campaign of attacks on then-Justice Louis Butler, which took cues from the “Willie Horton” ad that supporters of former President George H.W. Bush used to smear his Democratic rival, Massachusetts Gov. Mike Dukakis, in 1988.

To strengthen civics education, we need a Wisconsin Civics Advisory Council.

In order to evolve in a post-COVID society, America must embrace a more robust child care subsidy program.

A group of “Build Back Better” protesters chased U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema into the bathroom at Arizona State University. They literally taped her going into a stall. This is totally outrageous. It is also illegal.

The “Party of Dane County” can squeak out statewide wins by running up huge numbers and margins here, but it can’t take back the Legislature that way. For that it needs to bring an endangered species back from the brink of extinction: the moderate Democrat.

I don’t have any suggestions on how Madison could recognize a politician who has meant so much to its success. But it should find a way.

The WisOpinions Insiders, Chvala and Jensen, discuss the People’s Maps Commission’s first contribution to Wisconsin’s redistricting battle. Sponsored by the Wisconsin Counties Association and Michael Best Strategies.
