The Wisconsin GOP is taking its cues from President Trump and his administration, which has shown clear contempt for public health and safety.

State Street, once Madison’s jewel destination shopping district, has become a haven for the homeless and criminals over the years. The riots that have ripped it apart this long, hot summer of civil unrest have retailers seriously thinking about getting out.

In 2013, the GOP-controlled Legislature passed and Gov. Scott Walker signed a law that bars workers who receive SSDI from also collecting unemployment benefits.

Joe Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ campaign theme is a welcome centrist theme that could help him peel away former Trump supporters, but his people need to sharpen their ideas about job creation.

The Republican Party that was founded in Ripon included plenty of people whose familiarity with radical ideas would alarm Mike Pence.

U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin has emerged as a viable candidate in part because she brings a lot to the political table.

The Republican-led Wisconsin State Legislature has now gone three full months, nearly 100 days, without passing a single bill, amid a deadly, worsening pandemic, a devastated economy, a massive unemployment crisis, a health coverage crisis, and the largest protest movement in U.S. history.

Negrophobia during this period laid the groundwork for northern segregation and Jim Crow that was to follow. It was the precursor to redlining, restrictive housing covenants, hyper-segregation of schools, race-based policing policies etc. All things that were prevalent in northern cities such as Milwaukee and Chicago; and all of which are at the crux of the Black Lives Matter movement today.

A war is raging in America, but its most visible battle–the one being waged in the streets–isn’t its most consequential. In city halls and state capitols across the country, the real fight for America’s safety, security, and soul is being fought, and won, behind closed doors.

Rather than rally Americans to stand shoulder to shoulder against this deadly illness, they did their best to tear the people apart and, of all things, make the wearing of a face mask a divisive political statement.

In May, with less than six months before ESRD patients across the country could begin enrolling in Medicare Advantage plans, CMS changed the network adequacy requirements for dialysis facilities covered by those plans.

Republican-leaning group ranks him among the worst in Congress running a committee.

Proposed and rescinded in a little over a week, the Department of Homeland Security rule would have required international students to transfer or leave the country if their schools held classes entirely online because of the COVID-19 epidemic.

As schools across Wisconsin now debate and decide how to reopen in the Fall, every family in the state needs to be aware of the fact that they have options.

What will emerge when it’s all over?

Wisconsin’s ongoing unemployment crisis is a national embarrassment. It is very disappointing to see that this governor and his team have failed a key test of leadership while knowing that Wisconsinites are paying the price.

Some old and shopworn gossip has gotten new enthusiasm in the public sphere because it comes from the inside, the tales from her childhood into her 50s by his only niece, Mary Trump.

States will need to use caution as they make revenue and spending decisions amid the ongoing public health crisis, but tax policy can play a valuable role in a state’s economic recovery, and policymakers ought to give careful consideration to tax policy changes that would help the state recover faster.

Much has been written about how the companies in the industry failed to take steps to protect their workers and how government regulators stood on the sidelines and did nothing as the virus spread through the plants. What has been overlooked is the role that union officials played in allowing the situation to spiral out of control.

It is the height of disrespect to tell us that “all lives matter” when this nation has, since its inception, proven to us that only our bodies matter, not our lives as living, breathing human beings. How can all lives matter when ours don’t?
