May 27 All day

The May 27 gathering at the Capitol is growing. It started as a combined effort by Wisconsin Citizen Action, the Wisconsin Public Education Network and WISDOM. As of today, we are being joined by a host of other organizations, including Planned Parenthood, WEAC and AFT (the two statewide teachers’ unions), W.E.C.A.N. (statewide association of childcare providers), and more.

We are coming together with one, urgent message. Wisconsin needs a budget that:

  • Closes the Green Bay Correctional Institution WITHOUT building a new prison;
  • Expands BadgerCare (while saving Wisconsin taxpayers $1.5 billion!)
  • Properly funds Public Schools, especially Special Education, and Child Care

Governor Evers needs to make clear that he will veto any budget that doesn’t meet at least these criteria.

You can register to attend here. Transportation is being arranged from Milwaukee, LaCrosse, Eau Claire, Green Bay and Wausau. The day and lunch are free for those who register.

If you are unable to attend the whole day, you can come for the press event and rally that will be held at 2:30 pm. You don’t need to register for that. You can just come to the Senate Parlor (2nd floor, south, in the Capitol).

Tuesday will be an unprecedented gathering of a large, diverse group of advocacy organizations, all united in demanding a budget that meets the needs of our state in 2025.
