Marshfield Clinic Health System starting new program to curb drug abuse

A new program from Marshfield Clinic Health System will be launched in September to help people suffering from substance abuse in northern Wisconsin. MCHS Recovery Corps program is a part of AmeriCorps, a national service network launched in 1994 under the Clinton administration as part of the National and Community Service Trust Act. Since then, nearly 1 million AmeriCorps members have contributed approximately 1.2 billion hours in service across the country. WisDOT: Traffic crashes result in 41 deaths on Wisconsin roads last month

Preliminary data from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) shows 41 people died in Wisconsin traffic crashes last month, the same as April of last year and slightly above the five-year average of 38. The safest month of April since World War II occurred in 2014 with 25 traffic deaths, and the deadliest was in 1973 with 113 deaths. As of April 30, a total of 143 people have died in Wisconsin traffic crashes this year, including six motorcyclists and 17 pedestrians. WisDOT: County N, between I-39/90 and Rinden Road, to close starting Monday

Starting Monday, May 8, County N will be closed to all traffic, between the Interstate 39/90 northbound ramps and Rinden Road, near the town of Pleasant Springs in Dane County. Alternate local routes are required, and the signed detour route will follow I-39/90 to US 12/18 east to County N. This section of highway is anticipated to reopen in fall 2017.
