MADISON, WIS. — Jeffrey M. Anderson, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Alfred Wilson, 34, Wausau, Wis., was sentenced on November 14 by U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson to seven years in federal prison for distributing heroin. Wilson pleaded guilty to this charge on July 31, 2017.

At sentencing, Judge Peterson determined that Wilson’s conduct involved the distribution of at least 100 grams but less than 400 grams of heroin. Wilson’s prior criminal history includes several felony drug convictions and crimes involving violence.

Acting U.S. Attorney Anderson praised the efforts of law enforcement agents in Marathon County and stressed the continued support of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in combating the heroin problem plaguing communities throughout Wisconsin.

The charge against Wilson was the result of an investigation conducted by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office-Special Investigations Unit, Wausau Police Department, and Everest Metropolitan Police Department. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Reinhard.
