MADISON, WI – Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin today launched a grassroots campaign to thank State Senator Pat Testin for strengthening environmental protections in Senate Bill 395, the Mining for America Act. Additionally, the free-market activist group announced it will be holding phone banks across the state in support of the legislation as it is considered by the Assembly and the Senate in the coming days.

Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin State Director Eric Bott made the following statement:

“On behalf of AFP-Wisconsin’s base of over 130,000 activists, we thank Senator Testin for his leadership in improving and advancing the Mining for America Act. This common sense legislation will bring good-paying jobs to Central Wisconsin while maintaining the highest standards of environmental protection. Our activists are fully engaged on this issue and determined to see this legislation passed swiftly by the legislature and sent to Governor Walker’s desk for his signature before the end of the year.  AFP-WI will be marshalling its resources and working around the clock to get the Mining for America Act over the finish line.”

The mailers note that because of Sen. Testin’s efforts, Senate Bill 395 will:

  • Bring well-paying, family-supporting jobs to Central Wisconsin;
  • Generate more revenue for our schools and communities; and
  • Maintain robust environmental protections.
