SUBJECT:
DNR news conference – Sturgeon season opener

TIME:                 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11

Editors, reporters:  DNR sturgeon biologist Ryan Koenigs and DNR conservation warden supervisor Chris Shea will be available to answer questions about the first day of sturgeon spearing and the outlook for the 2017 spearing season on the Winnebago lakes. The news conference is scheduled to begin at the close of spearing on opening day. Spearing hours run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day and spearers must present the harvested sturgeon at a registration station by 2 p.m. on the day it is speared.

This location is a sturgeon registration station so there could be opportunities to see fish being registered. These stations can be busy and are sometimes crowded, so please allow adequate time for parking and setup. The news conference will occur outdoors.
