MADISON – Governor Scott Walker appointed Attorney Joseph Wall to serve as a judge on the Milwaukee County Circuit Court today, replacing retiring Judge Dennis P. Moroney.

“Joe Wall has established himself as a respected and accomplished attorney in the Milwaukee area,” said Governor Walker. “His broad experience, reputation for integrity, and commitment to the rule of law give me confidence he will make an excellent judge.”

Wall has served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Wisconsin for more than twenty-four years, including two stints from 1986 to 2001 and 2007 to present. During his work as an Assistant United States Attorney, Wall has been a member of the Financial Crimes Unit, the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, and the Human Trafficking Task Force. Wall also served as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge from 2001 until 2007. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Chief Judge Maxine Aldridge White of Wisconsin’s First Judicial District highly recommends Wall, stating, “he mastered any and all subjects, researched and examined the law, and was by far one of the best legal writers and trial lawyers in the federal trial and appellate courts.” Chief Judge White added, “[Wall] will bring a diversity of experience and additional judicial strength to help us in meeting the needs in any Division of our Courts to which he is assigned.”

Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Christopher Dee also wrote in Support of Wall, “equal to his legal brilliance and work ethic, was his dedication to presiding over a decorous courtroom.” Judge Dee added, “Joe led by example through his calm, patient, and thoughtful demeanor. This provided an atmosphere very conducive to thorough, productive, and well-run hearings and trials.”

With regard to Wall’s appointment, Attorney Dean Strang stated, “the Wisconsin judiciary, and the public it serves, won’t catch a luckier break all year.” Former United States Attorney Steven Biskupic also praised Wall’s appointment to the bench, saying “I can attest that Joe Wall has been and continues to be motivated solely by public services and how he can best serve the Milwaukee community.”

Wall received both his Juris Doctor degree and undergraduate degree from Marquette University and resides in Wauwatosa.
