East Troy – Governor Scott Walker visited East Troy High School today where he spoke about student success and the historic K-12 education investments included in his Executive Budget proposal. His proposal includes lifting the state K-12 investment to $11.5 billion over two years, an all-time high, providing $649 million in new state aids for all K-12 schools in Wisconsin, and increasing per pupil categorical aid by $509.2 million.

“We want K-12 education in Wisconsin to provide our students with a real-world curriculum that will prepare them for college, a career, and real life,” Governor Walker said. “To achieve this vision, our budget proposal invests more money into education than ever before in the history of our state. How our children learn and the resources they’re provided directly impact what they become passionate about and decide to pursue as they move from K-12 to higher education and into Wisconsin’s workforce. You see, by investing in student success we’re truly investing in the future of our state.”

The East Troy Community School District is estimated to receive approximately $12.5 million in funding from the state under Governor Walker’s biennial budget, including:

An increase of more than $1.04 million in Per Pupil Aid. Governor Walker’s budget increases per-pupil funding by $200 in Fiscal Year 2018 and $204 per pupil in Fiscal Year 2019, which marks the largest increase since the 2005-2007 biennium.

The East Troy Community School District may also be eligible for further funding under Governor Walker’s budget proposals, such as mental health grants, energy efficiency incentives, and special needs grants.
