MADISON – Governor Scott Walker released his Weekly Radio Address today titled “Celebrating Manufacturing Month This October.”Hi, Scott Walker here.

We’re celebrating Manufacturing Month throughout Wisconsin in the month of October to honor our state’s strong manufacturing industries.

Manufacturing is the backbone of Wisconsin’s economy, making up nearly 20% of our gross domestic product and employing more than 461,000 Wisconsinites. Manufacturing businesses often serve as a staple in their communities, supporting families and hardworking taxpayers throughout the state.

Thanks to our highly trained, seasoned workforce, our manufacturing products are known throughout the United States and the world for their superior quality and craftsmanship.

In addition to our exports flowing out of the state, Wisconsin’s world-class manufacturing industry also attracts new businesses and new investments into the state. Foxconn, Generac, and Haribo are just a few of the manufacturing companies drawn to expand and invest in Wisconsin by the success of our industry and our top-ten business climate.

Foxconn alone stands to revolutionize Wisconsin’s economy, state, and workforce in constructing a $10 billion high-tech manufacturing campus and employing up to 13,000 Wisconsinites, in addition to providing more than 10,000 construction jobs and 22,000 additional indirect and induced jobs.

Wisconsin’s manufacturing industry is on solid ground, and the future looks even brighter.

Join me this October in celebrating Manufacturing Month, and together we’ll keep moving this industry and Wisconsin Forward.
