MADISON – Governor Scott Walker released his Weekly Radio Address today titled “Wisconsin Is Open for International Business.”
Hi, Scott Walker here.
Wisconsin is open for business.
With a significant increase in exports in the first half of 2017 and global companies like Foxconn and Haribo deciding to invest in Wisconsin, our international profile is rising.
This week, we are working to build upon that success with a trade mission to Japan and South Korea. We want to encourage continued foreign investment in Wisconsin and new business partnerships with state companies. More foreign investment means more jobs and opportunities for the people of our state.
Our goal is to create a diverse Wisconsin economy with varied domestic and foreign investments. But we know that to be successful we must create an environment that benefits our large international partners and loyal Wisconsin businesses.
Foxconn is an example of this strategy. Not only is the multi-million-dollar company bringing 13,000 good-paying jobs to Wisconsin, the company also plans to purchase more than $5 billion from Wisconsin companies during the construction phase of the project, as well as an additional $1.4 billion each year from the state once the campus is operational.
We want to create a Wisconsin-based supply chain in which Wisconsin companies and foreign businesses thrive together.
We are working and winning for Wisconsin.
