JFC passes GOP motion on UW 12-4

The Joint Finance Committee today argued over whether Republicans are adding funding toward UW or cutting it.
The committee passed 12-4 an omnibus motion on UW that freezes tuition again, adds performance funding for the UW System and makes some investments that Gov. Scott Walker hadn’t called for in his budget proposal.
In all, the motion adds about $36 million in GPR toward the UW System.
JFC Co-chair Alberta Darling, R-River Hills, called that a “huge investment” that’s also paired with a sixth straight year of a tuition freeze for in-state undergrads.
