Former Marine and business consultant Kevin Nicholson raised more than $400,000 over the first two months after officially declaring for the U.S. Senate race, the Republican’s campaign said today.

Nicholson GOP rival and state Sen. Leah Vukmir announced earlier this month she raised nearly $250,000 over the first three weeks after she got into the race to challenge U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison.

Nicholson’s campaign said his fundraising included more than 1,850 donations with an average contribution of less than $220. His campaign said he will report one PAC contribution from former UN Ambassador John Bolton’s group.

He coupled the fundraising announcement with seven new Wisconsin finance co-chairs for his campaign, along with new national supporters.

The new Wisconsin members of his finance team are: Tom and Ginee Burke; Jack and Patti McKeithan; Fred and Mary Mohs; and Mick Neshek.
