Madison, Wisconsin — Roy Moore, Republican U.S. Senate candidate and accused pedophile, is reported to be the beneficiary of a $100,000 contribution to a Political Action Committee (PAC) supporting his candidacy from Richard Uihlein, an Illinois business magnate. Uihlein’s political giving also extends to Wisconsin, where numerous Republicans politicians and the groups that support them, including Gov. Scott Walker, have raked in his campaign cash. One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross today called on the recipients of Uihlein’s campaign cash to give the money back in light of his outrageous support of pedophile Moore.
“Roy Moore’s continued candidacy after revelations he engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with multiple teenage and underage women is appalling,” said Ross. “Gov. Walker and the other politicians and groups that have taken money from Moore supporter Richard Uihlein should give his money back.”
Richard Uihlein’s donation to Scott Walker include:
- $2.5 million to Walker’s Unintimidated super PAC
- $200,000 to Walker’s 527 group, Our American Revival
- $195,000 to Walker’s gubernatorial campaigns
- $550,000 to the Walker-controlled Republican Party of Wisconsin
Walker is also an announced speaker at a December conference also featuring Roy Moore supporter and convicted felon Dinesh D’Souza and James O’Keefe, whose organization was recently exposed for running a “sting” operation intended to discredit the reporting on women who have come forward to tell their stories of abuse by Moore.
According to state campaign finance records, other Wisconsin recipients of Uihlein’s campaign largesse include Lieutenant Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, Attorney General Brad Schimel, Wisconsin Supreme Court judges Rebecca Bradley and Annette Ziegler, 10th Senate District candidate Shannon Zimmerman, Racine area Republican State Senator Van Wanggaard and the state operation of the American Federation for Children. This is just a sample of the Uihlein giving to Wisconsin Republicans and these figure does not include the extensive giving of his wife, Elizabeth Uihlein and other members of his family.
Ross concluded, “Anyone keeping Uihlein’s money shows campaign cash is more important to them than doing the right thing, disavowing pedophile Roy Moore and those propping up his shameless candidacy.”
