Senate Republican Troika Still Needs to Answer Why They Violated WI Statute 13.06

MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross released the following statements regarding the latest public fighting between Wisconsin Republicans. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos on Sunday accused Gov. Scott Walker of negotiating with three GOP senators Vos termed, “terrorists.” The ongoing infighting not only led to a 10-week delay in passage of the state budget, but also may have involved State Sens. Duey Stroebel, Chris Kapenga and Steve Nass trading their support for the budget for Gov. Scott Walker taking separate action on a separate piece of legislation.

One Wisconsin Now believes the senators violated the state statute prohibiting “Executive Favor,” which carries with it a Class I felony if convicted.

“Speaker Vos, this was wasn’t ‘terrorism,’ it was ‘Executive Favor.’ It is against the law and it is why we filed a complaint with the Dane County District Attorney to launch a criminal investigation.”

One Wisconsin Now filed the request for investigation October 3 following Gov. Walker’s “Executive Order” which enacted parts of a separate piece of legislation, Senate Bill 374, from the Republican Senators.
