Racine, Wisconsin – Today, the Racine Water Works Commission recommended D.K. Contractors be awarded a contract for the construction of a water main along the east Frontage Road of I-94 between Highway 20 and Highway 11 in the Village of Mount Pleasant. The Commission also recommended Advance Construction, Inc. be awarded with a contract for the construction of a second water main, which will also be located in the Village, along Highway H from the Renaissance water tower south to Highway KR. Both projects will begin in January 2018 and mark the start of construction of water main infrastructure for the Foxconn project.

“The Racine Water Utility has been hard at work to quickly and efficiently design and plan for the installation of two new water mains,” said Keith Haas, General Manager of the City of Racine Water Utility. “The construction of these new mains is critical to the Foxconn project being able to move forward.”

The Racine Water Utility received 13 bids for the Frontage Road water main work. D.K. Contractors was the low bidder at a price of $1,973,340.00 and was recommended as the contractor for the project. D.K. Contractors is expected to begin work the first week of January 2018 with the project completed by April 2018. The Frontage Road will be closed for several months while it undergoes reconstruction by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). It is anticipated to reopen to traffic the summer of 2018. The Frontage Road main will support future development in the Village of Mount Pleasant.

The Highway H water main work received a total of 10 bids. Advance Construction, Inc. was the low bidder at a price of $5,348,511.00 and was recommended as the contractor for the project. Advance Construction, Inc. is expected to complete this project prior to April 2018 in order to meet WisDOT’s timeline for roadway improvements on Highway 20 and Highway H. The Highway H water main will provide water to a large concrete batch plant for the Foxconn project, as well as Foxconn’s Liquid Crystal Module (LCM) assembly building.
