MADISON…State Representative Tyler August (R-Lake Geneva) issued the following statement today regarding Governor Walker’s Budget Address:

“I am encouraged that our common sense reforms have kept Wisconsin’s economy strong. Through prudent fiscal management, we will continue to reduce the tax burden on our hard working families. While there is still work to be done, the Governor has submitted a solid conservative budget that the Legislature will now get a chance to improve.

I am especially encouraged by the $592 million in reduced tax burden that families will see. This includes a $200 million income tax cut for the middle class and the elimination of the state portion on property tax bills. I also support provisions that aim to get individuals off welfare and into the workforce. We will continue our commitment to providing families with a true choice in education. I’m excited by the opportunities this budget will provide us in continuing our fight to improve our state’s economic outlook by reforming government and fighting for working families.”
