Madison…Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) appointed Rep. Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) to the Speaker’s bipartisan Task Force on Foster Care on June 28, 2017.
The Speaker’s Task Force on Foster Care will study and create policy initiatives to support children who are currently in the system, aging out of the system, and to prevent children from needing to enter the child welfare system in the first place. Members of the Task Force will travel the state and hold public hearings to gather feedback from foster care children, parents, stakeholders, and experts.
“Thank you to Speaker Vos for appointing me to this task force. I am excited to further my knowledge on issues affecting children and put a spotlight on foster care in Wisconsin,” said Ballweg.
Representative Ballweg has several roles devoted to strengthening families and making better public policy for children, including serving as co-chair for the Wisconsin Legislative Children’s Caucus, a member of the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board, a member of the Committee on Children and Families, and she served on the Policy Advisory Council for Mrs. Walker’s Fostering Futures initiative.
