Madison – Assistant Assembly Democratic Leader released the following statement reacting to the introduction of the 2017-19 State Budget:

“The governor’s budget is a clear acknowledgement that the cut-and-gut approach he has taken in our state over the last six years has failed the people of Wisconsin. With his approval rating hovering at 40%, the governor has introduced a budget that is attempting to patch many of the wounds he has inflicted on Wisconsin families. Unfortunately, due in part to a perennially underperforming economy and tens-of-millions in tax giveaways to the top 1%, it’s unlikely all the proposals included in the budget the governor handed off to the legislature will pan out. Republican leaders in both houses and on the state’s budget committee are already hedging on how to pay for the governor’s reelection budget.
